Thai Immigration Police have arrested a Nigerian national identified as Chibuike after he was caught with 40 ecstasy pills and 10 grams of cocaine during an undercover sting operation in Bangkok.
The arrest took place at a condominium in Soi Inthamara 25 on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, following a detailed investigation by Division 1 of the Immigration Bureau’s Investigation Unit. Authorities say the suspect had been supplying narcotics to groups of foreign tourists around the Samsen Nai area of Phaya Thai District.
Press Conference and Police Briefing
On December 11 at 1:00 PM, senior Immigration Bureau officials held a press conference at the bureau’s headquarters in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi Province.
The briefing was led by:
- Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana Nuchanart – Deputy Commissioner, Immigration Bureau
- Pol. Maj. Gen. Phanop Warathanachakun – Commander, Investigation Bureau
- Pol. Col. Ratchot Chotikun – Deputy Commander, Investigation Bureau
The officials outlined how the operation began with a tip-off that a foreign man of African descent was selling drugs to foreign tourists in the Inthamara area. Surveillance teams later confirmed suspicious activity that aligned with the report.
How the Undercover Operation Worked
Investigators contacted the suspect via WhatsApp, arranging a deal for:
- 40 ecstasy pills at ฿1,800 each
- 10 grams of cocaine at ฿3,000 per gram
Total: ฿102,000
Police monitored all communication and tracked the suspect’s movements. On the agreed delivery date, officers surrounded the condominium and watched as Chibuike arrived carrying the drugs. He was arrested immediately without resistance, and all narcotics were seized.
Suspect’s Confession and Ongoing Investigation
During interrogation, Chibuike admitted ownership of the drugs and claimed he received them from another foreign national of African descent, whose identity he refused to disclose. Officers noted that his confession matched details uncovered during the undercover mission.
He was charged with:
- Illegal sale of Category 1 narcotics (Ecstasy)
- Illegal sale of Category 2 narcotics (Cocaine)
The suspect was transferred to Bang Sue Police Station for further processing. Investigators are now examining his WhatsApp chats, phone data, and other digital evidence to identify associates and suppliers. They are also reviewing his travel and immigration history to determine how long he has been operating in Bangkok.
Continued Crackdown in Bangkok
Police said surveillance will remain intensified in the Inthamara area, a well-known entertainment zone since the 1960s. Additional operations will also target high-traffic districts in Bangkok where drug sellers often target foreign tourists.
Authorities emphasized that the public played a vital role by providing the initial tip and urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities.
The seized drugs have been sent for forensic testing, and the final case file will be forwarded to prosecutors once all procedures are completed. The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
