The people of the Jebba community, Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State, have expressed their annoyance over the deputy governor; Mr Kayode Alabi’s refusal to pay homage to the royal family of the community.
It has become a tradition for people holding a high post in the government whenever they visited a town/city to pay homage to the royal family. The deputy governor failed to do so on his visit to the community.
The deputy governor visited the community to sympathize with those recently affected by the flood. On his arrival, he was welcomed by the deputy house leader of the Kwara state house of assembly, Hon. Bello John Olanrewaju, who joined the deputy governor in paying assessment visit to the flood victims in the community.
The Jebba youth descendants union expressed their disapproval against the deputy decision of not paying homage to the community royal family. Residents also commented that this will be the second time the deputy governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, will refuse to do so and give the community the traditional ruler the recognition it deserves.
The residents also claimed this may be as a reaction on the part of the deputy governor against the community decision of not belonging to the Emirates Union. They further stated that they will always remain an independent community no matter the treatment from the part of the state government.
