The Kidstech Africa team held a webinar with a leading android developer and engineer at Facebook; Rahul Pandey. Mr Rahul, who is also a lecturer at Stanford University spoke extensively on the webinar theme – opportunities in coding for kids.
According to the guest speaker; “starting programming at an early age gives kids the opportunity to create technology and not consuming technology”.
“In the coming years, every single job will require a certain level of technology or the use of a computer”. He added.
Among the participants who joined the webinar is Dr Popoola, a lecturer at Imperial College London who talked about the importance of coding and how he has always encouraged his kids to be the brain behind games that they are always interested in
instead of sitting in front of the consoles only. Dr Popoola also shared his insights into his activities in robotics engineering.
Also, Mr Jimmy Idiagbon ( a Member of the Kidstech Advisory Board) Shed more light on the projects is currently working on, most especially with blockchain technology. He also encouraged the guest speaker to partner more with the KidsTech Africa team to do more in the area of introducing young African kids to technology and also seek collaboration with Facebook, and other tech companies in the Silicon Valley.
Other participants are Mrs Mojoyin; KidsTech Africa Lead consultant who gave insights into how coding can help kids improve on their problem-solving skills.
The participants expressed their delights and called for more topics and notable resource persons like this in the webinar series.
