A lot of reports indicates that the annual average expenditure on schooling in Nigeria by families shows that about 50% of total family expenditure is spent indirectly on educational related costs. This places a heavy burden on poor families who cannot afford even to feed in the first place. This is not the case in Grand-Plus College of Education Ilorin.

Grand-Plus College of Education is a new college, founded in the year 2021 and got approval for her courses in April 2021. The National Commission for Colleges of Education (N.C.C.E) approval team officially visited the institution between the 1st and 5th 2021 March from Abuja and the provisional approval to start the N.C.E programme was given on the 8th April 2021, after the approval from the ministry of tertiary education, to which the College resumed academic activities on 1ST of June 2021.

The college is located in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital in a serene environment, very conducive for learning. The college celebrated its first matriculation ceremony on Saturday, 30th October 2021 at the College Arena.

Speaking at the ceremony the proprietor, Prince Ademola Abidoye Kamaldeen, the President of Global Institute for Professional professional Studies (GI FAPS) said he’s committed to helping the poor by making education more affordable with a complete scholarship scheme for tuition fees with just a token of #8,000 for registration procedures of respective students.

“Admission forms are free and are available at the college and with the admission agents for all applicants willing to become a professional, with the award of N.C.E”, he said.

Prince Ademola emphasized that the humanitarian philosophy of the college is ” full scholarship ” on tuition fees to the less privileged in the society and the institution management will do everything to sustain the philosophy.

The provost of the college, Dr Sheu Akolade Idris said the school maiden matriculation is an attestation to the college sustainability and promised to keep the legacy. Dr Sheu who is the first provost of the college said the college is starting with more than 400 students in this first academic calendar and promised to grow more strongly in the years coming.
