Cristiano Ronaldo prefers ‘Luis Enrique and not Zinedine Zidane’ to become new Manchester United coach

Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, prefers Luis Enrique to take charge at Manchester United following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer on Sunday, November 21.

Former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane worked with Ronaldo at the Spanish giants, where they won three successive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018.

But according to the Daily Mail, Ronaldo, 36, who commands superstar status at the club, prefers Enrique rather than Zidane or Ajax boss Erik ten Hag and the club might be influenced by who Ronaldo wants.

Ex-Tottenham HotSpurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, now at Paris Saint-Germain, and Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers are thought to be also on the list of replacements too.

Enrique has been coaching Spain since late 2019, and reached the semi-finals of this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament, before bowing out to eventual winners Italy on penalties.

The 51-year-old managed Barcelona to two LaLiga titles and a Champions League crown in his three years at the Nou Camp, the same time Ronaldo was at their rivals in Madrid.

United sacked Solskjaer after an embarrassing  4-1 defeat by promoted Watford, after convincing defeats at the hands of rivals Liverpool and Manchester City by an aggregate score of 7-0.
