    The Evergreen Global Initiative takes the Campaign against Drug Abuse to more schools.

    The Evergreen Global Initiative; is a nonprofit organization that focuses on stemming the tide against the abuse of drugs has continued its effort in sensitizing and reorientating young people about the menace of drugs.

    In a groundbreaking event which was held at Government Day Girls Secondary School Oko-Erin in Kwara state, the organization brought stakeholders to enlighten students of the school on staying drug-free and speaking up against drugs.

    The founder and executive director of The Evergreen Global Initiative, Ms Siaka Nimat highlighted the importance of engaging and sensitizing young people on the effect of drug abuse. She highlighted what the organization has done in previous years across States in Nigeria on drug abuse-related causes, community development, women empowerment, and caring for the girl child.

    The Evergreen Global Initiative launched a drug-free club in 2018 in Abuja where about 13 schools in the FCT, Nassarawa, and Niger States were onboarded. The organization also extended the initiative to other states in Nigeria between 2019 and 2021.

    The First Lady of Kwara State, Mrs Foluke AbdulRazaq was ably represented by Pharm (Mrs) Barakat Olarewaju, Chairperson Kwara state drug control committee and Director of pharmaceutical services Kwara state
    She commended the Evergreen team and shared viable insights on how to stay free and strong from drug abuse.

    The event also witnessed the presentation of brand new school uniforms and other educational materials to students in the school. These students were selected by the school based on the students most in dire need of uniforms.

    Scholarships were also given to some students. Emphasis was laid on the need to build strong self-esteem to not be easily Influenced by any form of peer pressure.
