    N30m Relief Fund: Hon. John Bello Debunks Claims of Fund Mismanagement

    The member representing Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency and Deputy House Leader Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon John Olarewaju Bello has debunked the allegations of mismanagement of N30million relief fund.

    Hon John Bello in a chat with newsmen during the weekend described the allegations of mismanaging relief fund for victims of Jebba fire incident as baseless, false, misleading and handwork of political distractors.

    The lawmaker explained that Kwara State Government released N31million to Polaris Bank Jebba for disbursement to victims identified by Relief Committee Not 30million as claimed in the mischievous press release.

    The Relief Committee headed by Hon John Olarewaju Bello comprises Kwara State Commissioner for Works, Hon Rotimi Suleiman Iliasu, Bala Dansaki, Abdullateef Adebara, Special Assistant to Governor on Nomadic Affairs and Secretary State Emergency Management Agency, Mrs Adaranbori. The committee reportedly did thorough assessment of damages and recommended fund for disbursement based on losses.

    John Bello explained the state government lodged the N31million at Polaris Bank in Jebba for disbursement to the victims.

    According to him, majority of the victims have forwarded appreciation letter to Kwara State Government.

    His words: “I am shocked that some people are playing politics with Jebba fire incident of 2020. It’s sad but I need to let people know that Polaris Bank handled the disbursement directly. I didn’t collect one kobo from the relief fund.”

    On the issue of important as APC Candidate, the Jebba-born politician said he won the party’s primary election convincingly.

    “No! No! I was not imposed on the good people of Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency in the just concluded APC Primaries as speculated by some groups. Some groups of people are trying to dent my reputation and leadership skills. The majority of the party faithful are supporting me. APC members and electorates are happy about my emergence as flag bearers for the 2023 general elections.

    “I remain the most popular candidate and will give APC sweet victory by God’s grace.”

    John Bello however implored aggrieved aspirants to embrace dialogue, noting that APC is one big and united family under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
