The Students Union Government Executives, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has lauded the commitment of the State government, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Rector, Engr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed for going extra mile to ensure that students welfare is well catered for.
The President of the Students body, Ishola Abdulsalam gave the commendation while speaking during a meeting with the Management of the Polytechnic and the representatives of the students.
The meeting which was at the instance of the Management has the presence of Special Adviser to His Excellency, Mr. Sulaiman Abubakar, to address the issue of alleged extortion of students.
He described the government and the Rector as a listening father that are always willing to to go extral miles for the wellbeing of students in the state even at there discomfort.
In the meeting, the SA political Central, Mallam Suleiman describe the government as a students loving government and youth friendly that is always willing to build and develop more capacity in the students and youths.
The governor is spending millions of naira various capacity and projects in the institutions and promise to do more, Mallam Suleiman said.
Speaking earlier, the Rector explained that increase in some fees such as carry over fee and loss of receipt is to instill seriousness to academic pursuit and sense of record keeping in students.
He advised them to always be focused on their primary assignment in the institution, avoid unnecessary protests on issues that can be amicably resolved.
The Rector also use the opportunity to applaud the government for putting the institution on a good track, with the attention giving so far to the institution appealing for more as he assured the government of the the institution support.
Abdul also appealed to the students not to be used as political thugs, and to be good ambassadors of the Polytechnic.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed on reduction in the following fees, processing of Regularisation Forms, Transcript, Convocation Brochure, Loss of Receipt, Medical Screening, Log Book and Carry Over.
