The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Governorship Candidate in Kwara State, Prof Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem has stated that he is not a religious fanatic or ethnocentric individual.
Prof Abdulraheem disclosed this on Monday during a face-to-face Interactive Session with Media Practitioners and other Stakeholders at Golden Sands Hotel, Ilorin.
The former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin said his governorship ambition is born out of a passion to accelerate the development of Kwara State and improve citizens’ wellbeing.
“I am not desperate to be Governor but I intend to add value to society by bringing significant development across Kwara State. Some people believe am too old to lead the state but my vast experience both in the academic and Federal Character Commission makes me the best candidate for the job.
“I grew up in Kano and the state has witnessed significant development over years.
“Kwara and the country at large can’t make a progress If we can’t find a competent candidate who is of the appropriate intellectual capacity with brilliant ideas that can lead us.”
On why he moved from APC to SDP and now contesting under the umbrella of NNPP, said, “We will move from a party to another because Nigeria’s problem is not about political party, it is the credibility of people who are going to lead us that should be the major priority, He added.
Prof Abdulraheem noted that Kwara is a huge infrastructural gap but promises to bridge the gap by bringing massive infrastructural development across the state when elected.
