In the wake of the release of its members, AbdulRazaq Aiyelabegan and Oluwatoyin Lukman, who serve as Publishers of Just Event Online and SATCOM Media, respectively, from police custody following a 10-day detention period, the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) extends its heartfelt appreciation to the people of Kwara and various stakeholders who exhibited solidarity and provided support during their period of confinement.

In a statement released by ASKOMP Chairman, Salihu Shola Taofeek, on Wednesday, it was revealed that the association pursued an Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR) approach to resolve the conflict.

Mr. Taofeek further disclosed that AbdulRazaq Aiyelabegan and Oluwatoyin Lukman were released this afternoon from Kwara State Police Command Headquarters in Ilorin, following the approval of their bail application, skillfully handled by ASKOMP members’ legal counsel, Taofeeq Olateju (Esq).

The association took the opportunity to express its gratitude to all stakeholders, individuals, and government officials who demonstrated concern and provided unwavering support from the very beginning until the release was successfully secured.

ASkOMP also reserved special appreciation for the petitioner, Ms. Jumoke Gafar, for her willingness to engage in an amicable resolution, understanding that our members had no intention to tarnish her reputation.

Additionally, ASKOMP urged its members to uphold the ethical standards of journalism and remain steadfast in fulfilling their professional responsibilities.
