…Directs FCID to investigate the Case for Swift Dispensation of Justice.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued a directive. The Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) will take over the investigation at once. They will investigate the unfortunate death of Jimoh Abdulqaudri. He passed away while in police detention in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Friday 20th December, 2024.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, said the IGP’s visit to Kwara State shows commitment to justice and accountability. The IGP met with the bereaved family of the deceased. The Balogun Fulani of Ilorin, Alhaji Sadiq Atiku Fulani, received the IGP. He spoke on behalf of the family.
During the visit, the IGP expressed his profound condolences. He assured the family of a thorough investigation. Their goal is to uncover the circumstances that led to Abdulquadri’s death.
The IGP has ordered the FCID to handle the case with utmost diligence and ensure a conclusive and impartial investigation. He further reassured the family and the general public. He stated that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to upholding the highest standards of accountability. It is also committed to professionalism and respect for human rights.
He reiterated the Force’s zero-tolerance stance on unprofessional conduct among its personnel. The IGP called on all stakeholders to stay calm. He urged everyone to allow the due process of law to prevail.
