The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has commended the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON. They appreciate his efforts in honoring outstanding heroes of our dear state.
This time around, the Union has particularly commended the Sardauna of Ilorin for his welcoming decision to honor the pioneer Chief Judge of Kwara State and Madawaki of Ilorin, the late Honourable Justice Saidu Kawu, CON; who was well known for his pensiveness particularly during court hearings.
The National President of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, stated this on Saturday while reacting to the decision of the Governor to name the proposed Court House being built in Ilorin after Justice Kawu.
In a statement signed by the Union’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, Bhaji Abdulmalik thanked the Governor for recognizing and appreciating the contributions of Justice Kawu with the naming of the monument.The Community leader recalled the wonderful contributions of Justice Kawu, who was not known to display emotions during sittings , to the development of the state, saying that he was one of those who made remarkable contributions to the building of the Kwara State judiciary from scratch.
Alhaji Abdulmalik said that the late jurist actually deserves the honour as he was not just a member of the first generation of lawyers produced by Kwara State but was also the first son of the State who became and served creditably as a Justice of the Supreme Court.
The President believed that the gesture of the Governor would encourage more citizens of the state to demonstrate patriotism as exemplified by Justice Kawu and several other departed and surviving indigenes of the State.Alhaji Abdulmalik wished the Governor a more peaceful and successful tenure.
