In a shocking move, Alhaji Adamu Attahiru Manko, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Kwara North Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This development was confirmed by Manko himself during an interactive session with members of the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) at his Ilorin residence.
Manko explained that his decision to join the APC was driven by his desire to contribute meaningfully to the society and add value to the lives of his people. “I returned back home to where I belonged before,” he stated. He emphasized that his foray into politics was accidental, but he believes that being part of the system would enable him to make a greater impact.
The business mogul highlighted his philanthropic efforts, both personally and through his foundation, which have benefited people across Kwara State. He stressed that his primary goal in politics is to give back to the community, rather than pursuing personal gain.
Regarding the Kwara North 2027 agitation, Manko expressed his support for the agenda, urging party leaders and stakeholders to back the movement. “We are truly agitating for Kwara North to become Governor in 2027,” he said, emphasizing the need for political equity, justice, and fairness.
Manko praised President Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for their developmental projects, which he believes will move the state and nation forward.
When asked about his political ambition, Manko clarified that he is not contesting for Governor but rather Senator.
