Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar was born in June 1970 in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. The astute lawmaker graduated top of his class in 1987 at Borgu Secondary School New Bussa with a distinction.
He currently holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, postgraduate diploma in public administration, Master’s Degree in Disaster Risk Management, and Developmental studies from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State.
Senator Sadiq’s insatiable quest for academic and professional excellence has accorded him the impetus to become a Fellow of Nigerian Academy of Pharmacy, Fellow African Centre for Supply Chain, a Fellow Society of Professional Disaster risk managers, Fellow Association of Nigeria Public Administrators, and many others.
3SU, as he is fondly called, is a fine gentle folk with absolute reverence for the people and constituted authority.
In 2019, he was elected by the good people of Kwara North Senatorial District into the 9th Assembly, where he was the chairman Senate Committee On Rules and Business, vice chairman Senate Committee on Primary Health Care and Communicable Diseases and member of several other committees.
Following his re-election in 2023, 3SU was appointed the chairman, Senate committee on Trade and investment and a member of several senate committees including Appropriation, Power, downstream petroleum, Finance, FCT, Public Accounts, Industries, Defence, National Planning, ICT and Cyber Crimes, Local and Foreign Debt etc.
Since then, he has been serving the interests of his constituents with utmost diligence, humility, and fear of God.

Aside from being a health veteran, he is an accomplished development expert, community mobilizer, philanthropist, public affair analyst, and politician.
For several years, senator Sadiq had served in the health development sector of DFID and USAID SCM Projects, managing projects that focused on the poor and vulnerable, especially women and children. His rise to Technical Director West Africa, Axios International, from the position of an officer is a clear testament to his sterling professional records.
He is a virile advocate of quality education, health, road infrastructure, water resources, power, Human Capital Development, empowerment, and youth advancement, just to mention a few.
Senator Sadiq emblemises moral uprightness, social justice, and political emancipation, with unwavering convictions in democratic humanism and a political philosophy entrenched in fundamental human rights and participatory democracy.
He holds the traditional titles of Dan Amar Kaiama and Dan Amar Lafiagi, which means the beloved prince of Kaiama and Lafiagi emirates in Kwara state.
He is married to Hajiya Maryam Sadiq Umar, and the family is blessed with two boys and a girl named Uthman, Suleiman, and Halima, respectively.
