Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, North Central representative on the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), has been widely commended for his instrumental role in securing a N2 billion Special High Impact Project (SHIP) intervention for the College of Education, Oro, Kwara State—an important milestone in advancing teacher education and academic infrastructure in the region.

The strategic allocation, which is part of TETFund’s broader national intervention, is set to significantly enhance teaching and learning at the college through modern infrastructure, upgraded training facilities, and strengthened institutional capacity.

Stakeholders across Kwara and the wider North Central region have praised the development, describing it as a product of purposeful leadership and effective representation. “This intervention speaks volumes about what can be achieved when competence and commitment meet opportunity,” a statement from local education advocates noted. “Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi has brought unprecedented visibility and results to the region since assuming his position on the TETFund Board.”

Special commendation was also directed at His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, for his foresight in supporting the appointment of Engr. Adeyemi—described as a round peg in a round hole. “The Governor deserves accolades for ensuring that someone with proven capacity, deep grassroots understanding, and a track record of service was chosen to represent the North Central zone. The results speak for themselves.”

Since his appointment in August 2024, Engr. Adeyemi has played a key role in facilitating high-impact interventions across the zone. Notably, the University of Ilorin recently secured N4 billion for institutional upgrades, N750 million for hostel development, and nearly N2.5 billion for a Medical Simulation Laboratory. Similar interventions have also reached the University of Jos, Benue State University, and other institutions within the North Central zone under recent TETFund disbursements.

These interventions are part of the Federal Government’s strategic agenda to transform Nigeria’s education and healthcare training landscape—addressing brain drain and positioning institutions for global competitiveness.

The statement also acknowledged the commitment of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, whose leadership has strengthened the operational direction of TETFund under the supervision of Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Arc. Sonny Echono, Executive Secretary of the Fund.

As implementation for the College of Education Oro’s high-impact project commences, the development stands as a beacon of progress and a symbol of what visionary public service can deliver.

“This is not just a win for Oro or Kwara State, but a powerful example of how strategic leadership can unlock national opportunities for the benefit of our people,” the statement concluded.
