In yet another demonstration of strategic advocacy and responsive leadership, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, North Central representative on the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), has facilitated a N750 million non-PPP hostel intervention for the College of Education, Ilorin—despite the institution not being listed as a beneficiary for the 2025 intervention cycle.
This rare approval, achieved outside the regular beneficiary framework, is seen as a testament to Engr. Adeyemi’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development and his ability to attract impactful federal support for institutions across the North Central zone. The new hostel project is expected to greatly ease student accommodation challenges, particularly for female students, and enhance the overall learning environment at the college.
“This is a clear win for equity and proactive leadership,” a statement from local education stakeholders read. “Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi has again proven that with the right representation, no institution is too small or excluded to benefit from national opportunities.”
The College of Education, Ilorin, joins a growing list of institutions that have benefitted from Engr. Adeyemi’s strategic influence on the TETFund Board. These include the University of Ilorin, which recently secured N4 billion for institutional upgrades, N750 million for hostel development, and N2.5 billion for a Medical Simulation Laboratory; the College of Education, Oro, which received N2 billion under the Special High Impact Project (SHIP); and the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, which is set to benefit from nearly N2 billion in development proposals.
Engr. Adeyemi’s efforts continue to attract commendations from across Kwara State and the broader North Central region, with many noting his deep grassroots connection, technical competence, and passion for educational advancement as key drivers of these gains.
Special acknowledgment was also extended to the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, for their consistent support and dedication to education reform. The leadership of the TETFund Board of Trustees, chaired by Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, and the operational excellence of the Executive Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono, were also recognized for creating the enabling environment that allows such exceptional interventions to take place.
