Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, a community developer, entrepreneur, Founder of ENACT, and Member of the Board of Trustees of TETFUND, has lauded the sustained efforts of the Kwara State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in addressing security challenges in parts of Kwara South where some communities in Ifelodun Local Government Area have recently been attacked.
Engr. Adeyemi, a frontline APC stalwart from Kwara South, commended Governor AbdulRazaq’s multi-agency security strategy, which involves collaboration with security agencies, local authorities, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders to strengthen peace and stability.
He noted that the Governor’s intervention has ranged from the provision of logistics—including the donation of 32 patrol vehicles and 160 off-road motorcycles to the security formations across the state for enhanced mobility—to consistent engagement with security chiefs, local government chairmen, and community leaders.
In addition to providing materials and logistics support to the security agencies and vigilantes in the state, the state government in recognition of the heroism and efforts of our security agencies usually extends death benefits to the military and police personnel who fall during active duty. We are encouraging the state government to similarly cover vigilantes, local hunters, and forest guards with such benefits, recognizing their heroism and sacrifices at the grassroots level.
In addition, Engr. Adeyemi pledged support for the establishment of a ₦10 million Security Trust Fund initiative to backstop local security operatives, including life insurance-type support—₦250,000 death benefit to families of vigilantes who fall in active duty, and ₦100,000 to those who sustain injuries while defending their communities.
“As a government, as communities, and as individuals, we must all play our part. Security is the collective effort of everyone of us. I call on the people of Kwara South to join hands with His Excellency and our security agencies by providing timely intelligence and reporting suspicious activities. Together, we can defeat the bad actors and protect our communities,” Engr. Adeyemi stated.
He cautioned against politicising security challenges, urging opposition elements and other stakeholders to avoid exploiting unfortunate situations for political gain.
According to him, what is required at this critical time is unity of purpose, not divisive rhetoric.
Engr. Adeyemi also noted that military operations are already underway to rout out the criminals, clear the forests, and restore normalcy to affected areas, with the Governor personally meeting stakeholders and leading interventions to ensure lasting peace.
He reaffirmed his unwavering support for Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration and assured the people of Kwara South that the APC-led government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
