The Board of Trustees (BOT) Member of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) representing the North Central Zone, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, has fulfilled his ₦5 million development support pledge to the Department of Political Science, University of Ilorin.
The pledge, made during a recent Distinguished Personality Lecture held in his honour at the University Auditorium, was fully redeemed in line with Engr. Adeyemi’s long-standing passion for strengthening educational institutions, promoting human capital development, and advancing academic excellence across Nigeria.
The lecture, themed “TETFund as a Catalyst for Transformative Educational Outcomes: A Paradigm Shift Towards Achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda’s Objectives in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions,” was a thought-provoking engagement that explored the link between education, policy, and national development.
In fulfilling his promise, Engr. Adeyemi reaffirmed his commitment to complementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in education through interventions such as TETFund and NELFUND. He emphasized that his gesture was a modest contribution to the continuous growth of the University of Ilorin and a reflection of his belief in education as the most enduring legacy any leader can support.
“We must continue to invest in institutions that shape minds and produce the next generation of leaders. Supporting the Department of Political Science is a reaffirmation of my belief that great nations are built by ideas nurtured in great universities,” Engr. Adeyemi noted.
In a letter dated 30th September 2025, the Head of Department, Dr. A. J. Edun, conveyed the appreciation of the staff, students, and entire University community for the gesture.
“Your lecture was intellectually stimulating and deeply inspiring, reflecting your vision and unwavering commitment to education, youth empowerment, and national development. Your benevolent donation stands as a testament to your dedication to strengthening educational institutions and will go a long way in enhancing our teaching, research, and learning environment,” Dr. Edun stated.
The University community has since lauded Engr. Adeyemi as a distinguished personality, benefactor, and role model whose actions exemplify the spirit of transformative leadership.
This fulfillment further reinforces his consistent advocacy for sustainable educational development, in line with the Federal Government’s vision of using knowledge, innovation, and capacity building as catalysts for national growth.
