The Board of Trustees (BoT) member representing the North Central geopolitical zone in the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi, has undertaken a familiarisation visit to the Nigerian Army College of Education (NACE), Ilorin, College of Education (COE), Ilorin, and Federal Polytechnic, Offa to assess TETFund’s interventions in the institutions over the years.

Engr. Adeyemi, who was warmly received by the management of the institutions, inspected various facilities to evaluate the quality of TETFund-supported projects and identify distressed project requiring attention.

Speaking during the visits, Engr. Adeyemi said the exercise was aimed at hearing directly from the institutions to enable faster resolution of lingering challenges. He described the tour as part of the new initiative of the BoT under the leadership of Excellency Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, with the support of Arc. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund.

Highlighting some of his contributions, the BoT member disclosed that he had facilitated several projects for the institutions. He noted that the College of Education, Ilorin, received ₦750 million for the construction of hostels to revitalise teacher education in Kwara State, while the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, benefitted from a ₦1.9 billion intervention for the 2025 cycle, excluding the regular Annual Intervention allocation.

In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the visionary leadership of the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, Engr. Adeyemi urged the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, to consider adopting an earn-as-you-learn model. He explained that such an initiative would enable students to acquire practical skills and earn income while pursuing their studies.

Commending the leadership of NACE, Sobi, Engr. Adeyemi described the institution as vital to Nigeria’s aspiration of producing more qualified teachers. He assured that all concerns raised during the visit would receive prompt attention to ensure the institutions optimise their resources for staff and student development.

In their separate remarks, the management of the visited institutions lauded TETFund and the BoT for the proactive initiative, describing the visit as timely and reassuring. They also presented various requests aimed at enhancing institutional capacity and improving the quality of education delivery.
