    Tragedy Strikes: Ebonyi Commissioner’s Brother Killed by Suspected Robbers

    Suspected armed robbers have reportedly killed Mr. Christopher Igwe, the younger brother of Hon. Uchenna Igwe, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

    The incident was confirmed by SP Joshua Ukandu, spokesperson for the Ebonyi State Police Command, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). According to Ukandu, the attack occurred around 10 p.m. on Monday night, November 17, along the Ishieke axis in Ebonyi Local Government Area (LGA).

    “Yes, the incident occurred on Monday night at about 10 p.m. along the Ishieke area. The armed robbers, after an operation at a cooking gas store, began to shoot, and unfortunately, the commissioner’s brother was shot dead,” Ukandu said.

    The police have launched an investigation into the attack and are working to apprehend the perpetrators. SP Ukandu urged residents with any useful information to come forward to help ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

    This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the persistent challenges of security in the region.
