Residents of Garam, a community in Niger State bordering the FCT, have reported the discovery of five deceased individuals in a bush near a farmland along the Bwari/Abuja–Kaduna bypass road, close to Kagarko.

According to locals, the bodies were found on November 22, 2025, after a community elder noticed a strong smell while working on his beans farm. Community youth secretary Tanko Dikko said the villagers immediately alerted authorities after confirming the discovery.

Dikko, who joined in the burial process, explained that officials from the Tafa Local Government social welfare unit and the police visited the scene before the remains were laid to rest.
He added that an Android phone found on one of the victims was taken by the police for investigation.

Another resident, Isah Sumaila, recounted that earlier in the week, some villagers saw two vehicles entering a nearby bush at night. Shortly after, they heard gunshots, and the vehicles later returned toward Bwari. He noted that the identities of those involved remain unknown.

Sumaila also mentioned past allegations—now outdated—that security operatives from the FCT once used remote locations in the area to handle high-risk suspects. However, he stressed that no such reports had surfaced recently.

The Niger State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident on Sunday.
Abiodun said officers from the Tafa Division recovered the bodies and that early observations suggest they may have been abandoned by unknown individuals.

He added that the case is being treated as a suspected homicide, and investigators are working to identify the perpetrators. A police source also confirmed that the mobile phone found at the scene is part of the ongoing investigation.
