American singer and actor Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has shared the real reason behind the cancellation of his 2024 New World Tour.
Speaking to fans during his appearance at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw, Glover explained that a medical emergency forced him to stop the tour after only 18 shows.
According to Glover, he first felt a severe headache during a show in Louisiana but pushed through the performance despite having trouble seeing clearly. By the time he arrived in Houston, he decided to visit a hospital—where doctors informed him that he had experienced a stroke.
Glover said he immediately felt worried about disappointing his team and fans.
Not long after that scare, doctors discovered an irregularity in his heart, including a hole that required surgery.
“They found a hole in my heart,” he revealed. “I had one surgery, then I had to go back for another one.”
Reflecting on the experience, Glover shared a powerful message with fans, saying:
“They say everyone has two lives, and the second begins when you realize you only have one. You should live your life the way you truly want.”
In 2024, Glover had briefly addressed his health on X (formerly Twitter), describing his situation only as an “ailment” that needed further tests and surgery. He thanked fans for their support and assured them he hoped to return to the stage soon.
