British media personality Piers Morgan has sparked widespread online discussion after tweeting in Igbo while responding to American rapper Nicki Minaj regarding her comments on the recent killings of Christians in Nigeria.

In a now-viral post, Morgan wrote: “Ọ dị m ezigbo mkpa! Anyị nwere ike ime ajụjụ ọnụ?” (Translation: “It is very important to me! Can we do an interview?”) The message was a quote response to Minaj’s earlier tweet, in which she referenced Morgan while discussing U.S. involvement and concerns about violence against Christians in Nigeria.

Minaj had tweeted: “And just like that, Piers has been given clearance to fly through Barb Airspace. The power of Nigeria. 🇳🇬 Naija Barbz, keep an eye on him…”

Morgan’s use of Igbo, one of Nigeria’s major languages, drew immediate reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing surprise and amusement at the unexpected display of linguistic engagement.

The tweet comes amid increasing international attention on targeted attacks against Christian communities in parts of Nigeria, an issue that has recently attracted the interest of global public figures.
