Rising singer Maria De La Rosa, 22, known by her stage name DELAROSA, was tragically shot and killed in what authorities are describing as an “ambush” in Northridge, Los Angeles. The fatal incident occurred early Saturday, Nov. 22, according to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Police said they received reports of gunfire around 1:25 a.m. local time near Bryant Street, east of Tampa Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing two male suspects approach a parked vehicle before firing multiple rounds into it. De La Rosa was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds. Two other victims remain in critical condition.

No arrests have been made, and police have yet to determine a motive for the shooting.

In her final Instagram post, dated Oct. 30, De La Rosa teased new music in Spanish, which translates to: “Busy cookin in the Stu. don’t call me. It’s about that time.” Her last song, No Me Llames, was released in August.

Since news of her death broke, tributes have poured in across social media. Among those mourning is Deyanira De La Rosa, who appears to be a relative, resharing heartfelt messages via the late singer’s Instagram Stories.

One tribute came from Devin Christiansen, who recalled meeting De La Rosa at a gym nearly a decade ago when he “had absolutely nothing.” He credited the singer with helping him launch his career by connecting him with an agency.

“I couldn’t be thankful enough to have met her at a time when I was at my lowest,” Christiansen wrote.

He added, “Fast forward years later, and just two days ago I saw news of an unfortunate shooting nearby. I didn’t realize it was Maria, Deyanira’s daughter. I am truly sorry for your loss. God has received an angel. No words can ever express this type of loss and pain. May God lay His hands on this family and guide them through peace.”

The Los Angeles community continues to mourn the loss of the young talent, whose promising career was cut tragically short.
