A 22-year-old Florida gym teacher has been arrested for allegedly sending inappropriate photos and text messages to a 13-year-old student.

Yezmar Angeanis Ramos-Figueroa was taken into custody by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday. She faces two felony charges: distributing obscene material to a minor and transmitting harmful material to a minor, according to Osceola County Corrections and Jail Services.

The alleged misconduct came to light when the student’s mother reported the incident to police in mid-October. At the time, Ramos-Figueroa was employed as a PE teacher at Central Pointe Christian Academy, a private K–12 school in Kissimmee, about 20 miles south of Orlando.

Detectives said they recovered text messages and photographs sent by Ramos-Figueroa to the student. The former teacher reportedly admitted to sending the texts and a photo to the minor.

Ramos-Figueroa is being held at Osceola County Jail with bond set at $5,000 per charge, totaling $10,000. Both charges are third-degree felonies, each carrying a maximum sentence of five years in prison if convicted.
