The brief altercation occurred after Lookman had already provided an assist for Osimhen’s goal. While Osimhen appeared visibly upset and charged toward Lookman, the winger remained calm and avoided escalating the situation. The exact reason for Osimhen’s reaction remains unclear.
Following the match, many Nigerians took to social media to condemn Osimhen’s behavior, describing it as unnecessary and unsportsmanlike.
Reacting to the backlash, Tacha defended the Napoli forward in a post shared on her X (formerly Twitter) account. She argued that the criticism stemmed from what she described as Nigerians having “seen finish” with Osimhen — a slang term implying excessive familiarity that breeds disrespect.
Tacha further likened Osimhen’s status in the Super Eagles to that of Cristiano Ronaldo in his national team, questioning whether fans would have reacted with the same outrage if Ronaldo had displayed similar behavior on the pitch.
Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with her stance while others insist that players should be held accountable regardless of their status.
