Eight people, including a hotel owner, were reportedly abducted from a hotel in Ibillo, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. Local leaders say efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of the victims.
The Okpahi of Imoga Kingdom, Oba Patrick Obajoye, confirmed that the incident occurred last Friday night at Star Boy Hotel, where the victims had stayed during a visit for a local function. Authorities have been notified, and negotiations are reportedly underway to resolve the situation.
Oba Obajoye praised the Edo State Police Command and the state government for their efforts in responding to the case. “We hope that the rescue efforts will continue so that the victims can be reunited with their families,” he said.
The police have launched an investigation and are working with local officials to ensure public safety while pursuing leads to resolve the incident quickly.
