Patigi APC Rejects Fake Senatorial Meeting

We, the undersigned stakeholders and committed members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Patigi Local Government Area, hereby express our collective displeasure and firm rejection of the purported meeting held on Saturday at the private residence of Alhaji Uthman Shaaba Emagi in Patigi town, during which a senatorial aspirant for the Kwara North Senatorial District was unilaterally proclaimed as the choice of APC members in Patigi LGA, January 22nd, 2026.

We categorically state that Alhaji Uthman Shaaba Emagi does not represent the leadership or the collective position of the APC in Patigi Local Government Area. The said meeting, convened in his personal capacity and private residence, neither reflected the views of party stakeholders nor enjoyed the endorsement of recognized APC structures within the LGA.

While we acknowledge his status as an elder, we strongly advise that he should tread carefully and act with restraint, so as to avoid actions capable of creating unnecessary tension, division, or crisis within the party. Eldership demands wisdom, responsibility, and the pursuit of unity, not actions that polarize party members.

The conduct and outcome of the said meeting were divisive, premature, and inconsistent with the principles of internal democracy upon which our great party is founded. If unchecked, such unilateral proclamations are capable of encouraging anarchy, deepening factionalism, and undermining the unity and progress of the APC in Patigi LGA and Kwara North Senatorial District at large.

We are particularly concerned because there are other capable, qualified, and loyal party members who have openly declared interest in the senatorial position, and whose aspirations deserve fairness, respect, and due process in line with party rules and guidelines.

Furthermore, we reaffirm the gentleman agreement reached by the leadership of the party to cede the Kwara North Senatorial seat to Patigi Local Government Area, out of the five LGAs in the district. This understanding was an act of political maturity, sportsmanship, equity, fairness, and justice, and must not be trivialized or manipulated for narrow personal interests.

We also emphasize that the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who is the leader of our party in the state, must not be disrespected through such actions. The Governor is not known for imposing candidates or encouraging undemocratic practices, and any attempt, direct or indirect, to suggest otherwise is unacceptable.

In addition, we strongly caution Alhaji Uthman Shaaba Emagi to desist from invoking or using the revered name of our traditional ruler, HRH Etsu Umar Bologi II, to endorse or project any individual. Such actions are capable of bringing undue disrespect and disrepute to the throne and our highly respected monarch.

His Royal Highness remains the father of all sons and daughters of Patigi, and it is well known that all aspirants enjoy his prayers and blessings equally, without prejudice or favoritism. It is also no secret that the collective aspiration of the traditional institution in Kwara North, championed by the Emir alongside his colleagues from other LGAs, is the actualization of the Kwara North governorship project in 2027, a vision that transcends individual ambitions and demands unity, patience, and strategic coordination.

We therefore insist that Alhaji Uthman Shaaba Emagi should promote his preferred aspirant without dragging the names of other stakeholders, leaders, or institutions into it. While everyone is entitled to personal political interest and preference, such interests must never be pursued in a manner that breeds disunity, suspicion, or internal crisis within the party.

We state clearly that we remain loyal to the leadership of the Governor and the duly recognized structures of the APC, and we will not allow the personal opinion or action of any individual to be used to generalize or misrepresent the collective character, values, and political maturity of APC members in Patigi Local Government Area.

We call on all party members and leaders to desist from actions capable of overheating the polity and instead allow the party’s established processes and leadership to guide all aspirational engagements.

The APC in Patigi Local Government Area remains united, disciplined, and committed to internal democracy, equity, and the overall success of our party.
