Former Real Madrid star Eden Hazard believes Kylian Mbappé has what it takes to win the Ballon d’Or but says the French forward must first achieve major success with both club and country.
Hazard stated that Mbappé’s path to the prestigious individual award depends on winning top honours, particularly the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish LaLiga title with Real Madrid. He also stressed the importance of a strong performance with the French national team at the World Cup.
“Mbappé and the Ballon d’Or? He will win the Ballon d’Or,” Hazard said. “He needs to win the Champions League, LaLiga, or go far in the World Cup. But he will win a Ballon d’Or at some point, of course.”
Despite being nominated several times, Mbappé has yet to lift the Ballon d’Or. However, his form since joining Real Madrid has strengthened his case as one of the leading contenders.
The France international has already netted 30 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos this season, underlining his growing influence at the club and keeping hopes high that individual recognition could soon follow.
