Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is mourning the loss of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who tragically died in a road accident in Delta State.

The retired military officer was involved in a crash in Umunede and was pronounced dead after being rushed to a hospital in Agbor.

Beşiktaş J.K, Ndidi’s Turkish club, confirmed the heartbreaking news via X, stating:
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident. May Allah grant mercy to the deceased; we extend our condolences to Wilfred Ndidi, his family, and loved ones.”

Ndidi recently captained Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where he also scored his first international goal for the Super Eagles.
