The Blue Cap Movement, a coalition of young professionals, entrepreneurs, and civic stakeholders across Kwara State, has formally declared its commitment to promoting competence-driven leadership and announced its endorsement of Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun as a credible and capable leader for future elective service.

Speaking at its inaugural press conference, the Movement described itself as a self-funded and independent platform established to institutionalize standards in political engagement. According to its leadership, the Blue Cap Movement is committed to shifting political culture from sentiment-driven endorsements to performance-based evaluation rooted in measurable impact, administrative capacity, and developmental vision.

The group explained that the “Blue Cap” symbolizes clarity, discipline, and responsibility in leadership selection. While acknowledging ongoing conversations around zoning and political alignments within the state, the Movement emphasized that democracy must ultimately reward competence, character, and capacity to deliver sustainable development.

In its address, the Movement reiterated its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending the administration’s reform agenda aimed at economic stabilization, youth employment, and strengthening the enabling environment for small and medium-scale enterprises. The group noted that while structural reforms often come with transitional challenges, long-term national growth requires bold and consistent leadership.

At the state level, the Movement applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for initiatives directed at repositioning Kwara State through infrastructure renewal, institutional reforms, and youth-focused development programs. The group described the state as steadily regaining economic viability under purposeful governance.

The Blue Cap Movement stated that Engr. Adeyemi emerged as the first individual to pass through its internal merit-based review framework, which assesses track record, community impact, administrative experience, and capacity for higher responsibility. The Movement highlighted his sustained contributions to grassroots development, particularly in expanding access to community health interventions through mobile outreach initiatives in underserved areas. It also acknowledged his role in promoting digital innovation and entrepreneurship through platforms such as the Ajase-Ipo Innovation Hub, as well as his efforts in facilitating employment opportunities for young people through strategic institutional networks.

Beyond public service, the Movement recognized Engr. Adeyemi’s personal commitment to social welfare initiatives and community support, describing him as a bridge between policy formulation and grassroots realities. According to the group, his leadership style reflects a development-oriented mindset aligned with the aspirations of young people and the broader electorate.

The Movement declared that should Engr. Adeyemi choose to contest any elective position in the forthcoming general elections, he would enjoy its full organizational and grassroots backing. It further called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritize individuals whose credentials, loyalty, and demonstrated impact can strengthen both party cohesion and governance outcomes.

Concluding its address, the Blue Cap Movement urged political actors and civic organizations across the state to embrace performance-driven engagement and responsible democratic participation. It affirmed that the future of Kwara politics must be defined by standards, not slogans, and by leadership that is prepared, tested, and committed to measurable progress.
