The Senate has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend its deadline for the phasing out of the old N1,000, N500 and N200 notes from January 31st to June 30th, 2023. The recommendation follows a motion by the senator representing representing Borno South, Ali Ndume raising the alarm over the January 31st deadline. According to him, the notice given by the CBN is too short, considering the “few” banks in Borno and Yobe states and the “inability” of people in these states to lodge the old notes in time to meet the deadline. Kely Nascimento, the daughter of Pele, has confirmed her father’s tragic passing at the age of 82 on Thursday, December 29.  The Brazilian legend passed away after a battle with colon cancer and his daughter has shared an emotional post with her followers on Instagram, stating that everything the family has, is thanks to Pele. Nascimento shared a heartbreaking image of her family’s final moments at the hospital before the football icon’s death, and wrote in her caption; ‘Everything we are is because of you. The suspension of Drambi Vandi, an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) who was arrested for killing Lagos-based lawyer Bolanle Raheem, has been approved by the Police Service Commission (PSC). Ikechukwu Ani, PSC spokesperson announced Vandi’s suspension on Thursday, December 29. The suspension takes effect immediately. The football world has been thrown into mourning following the death of Brazil legend, Pele. The Brazilian legend passed away on Thursday, December 29, after battling colon cancer which left him hospitalized for a month. Pele had surgery to remove a tumour from his colon in September 2021 at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, after the tumour was detected in routine tests.
