The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has suspended its eight-month-old strike conditionally, a member of the union’s National Executive Committee told Channels TV early Friday. ASUU decided to suspend the strike during a meeting of its leadership that started on Thursday night and lasted into the early hours of Friday. A mechanic has been sentenced to 12 months jail term by a Kwara State High Court, sitting in Ilorin for cybercrime offences. The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has discharged the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu was prosecuted by the Federal Government at the Federal High Court in Abuja on a 15-count charge bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism, offenses he denied. Nigerian sprinter and World Champion, Tobi Amusan, has been nominated for 2022 Women’s World Athlete of the Year. The 25-year-old, who is the current world’s record holder for 100m hurdles, made the list alongside nine others. President Buhari has sworn in Justice Ariwoola Olukayode as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria CJN. Justice Ariwoola took the judicial oath of office in a brief ceremony at the Council Chambers in Abuja before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by the President today October 12. In July, the president asked the senate to confirm the appointment of Ariwoola as the substantive CJN. The Senate confirmed his appointment on September 21.
