FIFA have summoned Byron Castillo to attend the hearing of their Appeals Commission on Thursday September 16, following new bombshell revelations that the Ecuador international confessed to being born in Colombia in an official investigation four years ago. In Sportsmail’s publication of Castillo’s interview with investigators, he admitted to using a false birth certificate, but the player’s lawyer claimed the new evidence was not admissible as the row between the two countries escalated. Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly rejected the chance to become the highest-paid footballer in the world during the summer. According to Spanish outlet Marca, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal offered the Manchester United superstar a contract worth £210m for two seasons. The offer from the Riyadh-based side would have seen Ronaldo make £1.7m a week. However, the 37-year-old wanted to continue playing football at the highest level. National Association of Nigerian Students have called for the resignation of Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu, over the lingering strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The call was made by the students who took to embarked on a protest along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. They accused the minister of having no interest to dialogue with ASUU to call off the strike. NANS Vice President (External Affairs), Akinteye Babatunde told Punch they would continue blocking the road until the Federal Government resolve the impasse with the lecturers. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it will no longer conduct mop-up examination for candidates of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) who are not bio-metrically verified. The board made this known in its Weekly Bulletin of the office of the Registrar on Monday in Abuja.
