Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled a 2022 governorship aspirant, Dotun Babayemi, for alleged anti-party activities. Recall that Babayemi had emerged a governorship candidate in a parallel congress for the just concluded Osun governorship election, but did not become PDP flagbearer. A 48-year-old Pastor of “The Light House Gospel Church” Oluwo, Owode Egba, in Obafemi Owode local government area, Pastor Michael Abiodun has been arrested by men of Ogun state Police Command for allegedly defiling and impregnating the 12 year old daughter of a member of his church (name withheld). The election of Hon. Musa Avia Aggah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, September 2, was nullified by the National and States Assembly Election Petition Trial Tribunal sitting in High Court 4, Jos. The court ruled that Hon. Agah was not validly nominated by the PDP for the Bye-Election conducted on February 26, 2022. The court also held that Agah did not score the highest valid votes in the election.

Justice Christy Dabup of a Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos has discharged and acquitted a former Governor of the state, Jonah Jang, over the N6.3 billion corruption charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The anti-graft agency first arraigned Jang, who was governor between 2007 and 2015, alongside a former cashier in the Office of the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Yusuf Pam, in March 2018. Nigerian rapper, Panshak Zamani aka Ice Prince has been arrested for allegedly abducting and assaulting a police officer in Lagos. The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this on Twitter wrote; ”At 3am today, @Iceprincezamani  was stopped for driving without license plates. He agreed to be taken to the station. He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and would be arraigned today.”

Liverpool have completed a season-long loan deal for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo after a late move for the Brazilian. Liverpool paid a loan fee of £3.9m to secure the services of the 26-year-old midfielder.
