After a series of heated dialogues, the Academic Staff Union of Universities has decided to extend its ongoing strike, 360vibez gathered. The decision broke out after the National Executive Council meeting at the union’s headquarters at the University of Abuja on Monday morning. Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested informants to a deadly kidnap-for-ransom syndicate, which kidnapped wife and two children of a serving lawmaker, Hon. Dr Ibrahim Aminu, in Katsina State. The IRT made this known in a statement released by its secretariat on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Bandits attacked the home of the lawmaker representing the Bakori constituency in Katsina House of Assembly in September 2021 and abducted his family members. Two US warships are currently passing through the Taiwan Strait, amid ongoing military tensions between China and Taiwan, the US Navy has announced. It is the first time US warships will engage in Maritime operations since tensions between Taiwan and China escalated following a visit by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan earlier this month. The dethroned Emir of Zurmi in Zamfara State, Abubakar Atiku, has died in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. According to reports, Atiku died in a private hospital following a protracted illness. It would be recalled that the deceased was dethroned along with the Emir of Dansadau, Husaini Umar on April 27, 2021, for allegedly aiding banditry in their respective emirates. The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has warned political parties and candidates against the use of masqueraders, public facilities, and religious centers for campaigns. In an interview with Punch, the National Commissioner and Chairman of its Committee on Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, asked political parties to align strictly with the provisions of the Electoral Act to avoid sanctions as stipulated by the Act.
