Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has received the report from a committee set up by the state government to investigate the 12 May student unrest at the Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE). Chioma Onyekwere has won a gold medal for Nigeria in the women’s discus throw at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Onyekwere emerged victorious after she threw 61.7 meters in her third attempt. The 61.70m throw is her season’s best. Management of Kaduna State University (KASU) has resumed the second semester of the 2020/2021 academic session for its undergraduate and post-graduate students. The school has reportedly begun its second-semester examination which was suspended due to the strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which commenced in February this year. Magnus Abe, a former lawmaker representing Rivers South-East senatorial district has joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Abe had announced his exit from the ruling All Progressives Congress last week. At the time, he declined to disclose his new political affiliation.
