Senator Abdullahi Gobir (Sokoto East) has been appointed as the new Senate Leader by the All Progressives Congress. This was conveyed in a letter by the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and read at plenary by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan. Gobir replaced Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North) who resigned as Senate Leader following his defection from the APC to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Abubakar Lawal, has presented cheques of N11.3 million to the families of dead policemen in the state. The centre said reporting suspected cases of cholera early increases the chances of survival.
