Emir of Birnin ‘Yandoto of Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara state, Alhaji Aliyu Marafa has been suspended by Governor Matawalle Bello for conferring a chieftaincy title on a banditry kingpin, Ado Alero. Secretary to the State Government, Kabiru Sardauna, announced the suspension in a statement on Sunday July 17. A man identified as Sunday Akingbala, who is said to be a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporter and member of Amotekun, has reportedly shot himself while celebrating the victory of Ademola Adeleke, governorship candidate of the party. Following the continued closure of the public universities in Nigeria, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has revolved to protest on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. This came as it faulted the Federal Government purported rejection of the Nimi-Briggs Committee on the premise of alleged disparity between the pay rise allocated to academic and non-academic staff of universities.
