Britain has hit Russia with a third wave of trade sanctions including metal imports in the latest action against president Vladimir Putin’s regime. The UK slapped a new package of sanctions on Russia – along with Moscow’s ally Belarus aimed at £1.7billion worth of trade. A Federal High Court in Abuja has declined the request by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) from taking any steps to prevent him from participating in the APC presidential primaries later this month. Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has filed a lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over an alleged plan to disqualify him from presidential primaries. In court documents obtained by Daily Trust, Emefiele, through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, argued that he is not a political appointee and by provision of the constitution, he is expected to resign a month before the February 25, 2023, presidential election. The decision was taken during the union’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which held in Abuja on Sunday May 8.
