The United Kingdom has announced that it will begin issuing a new visa that allows holders of first degrees, masters, and doctorates to travel to the country and work in fields such as science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship by May 30. The visa – high potential individual (HPI) visa, allows applicants to relocate to the UK without a prior job offer or sponsorship. A support group has procured the N100 million APC presidential expression of interest and nomination forms for the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan. According to Premium Times Report, the group procured the forms on for him on Monday at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja. The group said it would present the forms to Mr Lawam at his private home in Abuja. Mr Lawan, who hails from Yobe State, is the first major presidential candidate of the APC from the North-east region. Britain has hit Russia with a third wave of trade sanctions including metal imports in the latest action against president Vladimir Putin’s regime. The UK slapped a new package of sanctions on Russia – along with Moscow’s ally Belarus aimed at £1.7billion worth of trade. New measures against imports from Russia – adding an additional 35 percentage point tariff – will cover £1.4billion worth of goods, including platinum and palladium. A Federal High Court in Abuja has declined the request by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) from taking any steps to prevent him from participating in the APC presidential primaries later this month. In a suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/610/2022 and filed by his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, Emefiele challenged the legality of Section 84(12) of the amended Electoral Act to prevent him from contesting in the next presidential election. Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has filed a lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over an alleged plan to disqualify him from presidential primaries. In court documents obtained by Daily Trust, Emefiele, through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, argued that he is not a political appointee and by provision of the constitution, he is expected to resign a month before the February 25, 2023, presidential election.
