World football governing body, FIFA, has celebrated Super Falcons striker and captain, Asisat Oshoala for finishing as top scorer in the Primera Iberdrola (Spanish women’s first division). Oshoala ended the season with 20 goals and three assists in 19 games despite a three month injury-induced layoff. She had some tight competition before clinching the award. Men of the Borno state police command have defused a bomb at Dalori internally-displaced persons camp (IDP) in Konduga LGA of the state. Residents of the camp woke up to see a sack with content suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED). Everyone including armed police officers at the camp stood far away, while waiting for the anti-bomb squad to come and verify the content of the items. The anti-bomb squad arrived at the scene and confirmed it was a bomb. They successfully detonated it without causing any casualties.

Doctor Strange actress, Zara Phythian has been jailed for eight years for sexually abusing a teenage schoolgirl. Her husband, Victor Marke was sentenced to 14 years in jail for abusing the same girl, who was aged between 13 and 15, and indecently assaulting a second girl. Phythian, 37, who featured in the 2016 Marvel blockbuster Doctor Strange alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, May 16. Fast food retail giant, McDonald’s has announced it will permanently leave Russia after 30 years. In March McDonald’s said it was temporarily closing its roughly 850 restaurants in the country as part of the economic fallout following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Chicago-based company, owns 84% of its stores in Russia, and has said that its restaurants there and in Ukraine contributed 9% of its annual revenue, or around $2bn (£1.6bn).
