Andrew Yakubu, the former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was overcome with emotions after he was cleared of money laundering charges. After a five-year legal battle, Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, gave a judgement today, March 31, discharging and acquit ting Yakubu of the $9.8 million money laundering charge filed against him by the Federal Government (read here). The Nigerian Football Federation has terminated the appointment of Super Eagles technical crews. This was contained in a  statement on its website titled, ‘NFF disengages Super Eagles’ Technical Crew’, and signed by the NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday March 30, that it is beginning disciplinary proceedings against actor Will Smith after he slapped Chris Rock on stage at Sunday night’s Oscars event.
