The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleged that Mr Fayose received a cash payment of $5 million (about N1.8 billion) from the then Minister of State for Defence, Mr Obanikoro, without going through any financial institution. The trial of a former governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday, resumed at a Federal High Court in Lagos with prosecution giving more evidence. The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has said that the issue of pardoning the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is premature.
