The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has written to the British High Commissioner in Nigeria, Catriona Laing, asking that the British authorities file a Diplomatic note with Nigeria’s Federal High Court indicating Britain’s sovereign interest in his trial as a British citizen. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has issued a warning to Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemi popularly known as Sunday Igboho, against staging any rally in the state. Igboho had recently declared intentions to organize a rally in Lagos to sensitize residents of the state on the need to support the call for the actualization of the Yoruba nation. The Department of State Services (DSS) has declared Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, wanted immediately after his house was paraded. The spokesperson for the service, Peter Afunnaya, while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, July 1, confirmed that the agency carried out the raid on Igboho’s Ibadan residence in the early hours of Thursday, July 1. Eight suspected rapists and killers of a University of Ilorin 300 level Olajide Blessing, were today arraigned before a High Court in Ilorin, Kwara state presided over by Justice Adebayo Yusuf. The Federal Government has approved an extension of the deadline for NIN-SIM data verification to July 26, 2021. In a statement signed jointly by the Director of Public Affairs of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde and Head of Corporate Communications of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Mr. Kayode Adegoke, the Federal government said the decision to extend the deadline was reached after a request by stakeholders on the needs to consolidate enrolment and NIN-SIM verification process. Federal High Court, Abuja Division has ordered that the leader of the proscribed Indigenious People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, be remanded in DSS custody, Justice Binta Nyako presided over the case. The remand order was sequel to an application by the Federal government through its lawyer, Shuaibu Labaran. Ruling on the request for his remand in the custody of the DSS, Justice Nyako held that the prosecution should inform Kanu’s lawyers of his rearrest and remand in the custody of the DSS.
