Argentina will no longer host the upcoming Copa America because of the surge in Covid cases, CONMEBOL announced this new development on Sunday night, putting the entire tournament in danger of not moving forward. Previously, Colombia was ruled incapable of hosting the competition amid political unrest. With the tournament, just a couple of weeks away, reported last-ditch options to include Chile or even the U.S, as CONMEBOL confirmed several nations have offered themselves as potential hosts.

The policewoman who was allegedly shot human rights activist, Owoyele Sowore during a protest over insecurity in the country was identified as Altine Daniel, a Chief Superintendent of Police, according to Sahara reporters. Sowore was on Monday morning shot in the right side of the stomach towards the hip by Daniel at the Unity Fountain, Abuja while he was trying to gain entrance into the place. Immediate past vice-president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Emmanuel Osodeke, has emerged as the new president of the union. A professor of soil science at the Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Osodeke was elected president of the union during a three-day conference, which held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State on the 30th of May, 2021. The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has denied claims by publisher of Saharareporters, Omoyele Sowore, that he was shot at in Abuja during a protest against insecurity in the nation today, May 31. Manchester City striker, Sergio Kün Aguero has completed a transfer move to Barcelona following his exit from Manchester City, the Spanish club have announced. The Argentina International joined Ronald Koeman’s side on a two-year deal.
