Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a prominent Islamic scholar, has opened on how he secured the release of 37 abducted students of the College of Forestry Mechanisation in Afaka, Igabi LGA, Kaduna state. According to The Punch reports that the Islamic scholar insisted that the only way to end kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country is by negotiating with bandits. Gumi made this known while speaking at the reception he organised to meet the released college students. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has denied announcing interest to contest the 2023 presidential election. On Monday, his office disowned a website calling on Nigerians to join a volunteer organization mobilizing support. In a statement released his Presidential Aide, Laolu Akande, said solicitation by the group is trending on WhatsApp with a suggestion that the Vice President “quietly” declared intention to run. A Kenyan man was beaten mercilessly by locals after a schoolgirl accused him of molesting her. According to several reports, the man offered two female high school students a ride when they were returning from school. He dropped the first one off at her stop then continued with the second. The registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has hinted at the possibility of the board postponing the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Prof Oloyede gave the hint during a virtual meeting with relevant stakeholders ahead of the examination today May 14. Prof Oloyede blamed the development on the difficulties being experienced by the candidates in their efforts to register.
