The Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige has said that he didn’t know that doctors in the country were still being paid N5000 hazard allowance until the COVID-19 pandemic. Recounting how he and two others wrote the circular that brought in payment of hazard allowance to medical doctors in 1991 during an interview on NTA on Wednesday April 8, Ngige said the last time the hazard allowance was reviewed for all medical personnel was in 2009. The University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan took delivery of triplets of the first In Vitro Fertilization carried out in the hospital. The 45-minute procedure for the delivery commenced at about 1pm. The mother and the babies – all females – are in good condition, the hospital authorities. The babies weighed 1.4kg, 2.5kg and 2.4kg respectively. Angry residents of Umuawom village, Ihodimeze community in Ikeduru council area of Imo State on Wednesday set ablaze a fleeing prisoner, who returned home from the Owerri Correctional Centre.
