Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), has told a Federal High court in Abuja that former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, is not eligible to run for president in Nigeria. Malami alongside the Incorporated Trustees of the Egalitarian Mission for Africa (EMA), filed a suit before the court challenging the eligibility of Atiku to run for president on the platform of the PDP in the 2019 election. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of DIG Usman Alkali Baba as acting Inspector General of police. He immediately replaces Mohammed Abubakar Adamu. The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi disclosed this to State House correspondents on Tuesday. The president had on the 4th of February, extended the tenure of Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector General of Police for three months out of which the erstwhile police boss spent two months and three days. The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has commenced an indefinite strike nationwide. The president of the union, Anderson Ezeibe announced on Tuesday while addressing newsmen in Abuja. According to him, the members of the union have vowed to shut down the Nigerian Polytechnics till the Federal Government meets their demands. It would be recalled that FG on Monday invited officials of the Union to an emergency meeting over its proposed strike. Yesterday April 5, some residents of Kogi state flogged two men for staging a #BuhariMustGo protest in the state. The two anti-Buhari men stormed the area with placards with inscriptions that read ”Buhari Must Go”. They also used paint to write the same on a wall in the environment, They were however intercepted by some youths in the area who told them that Kogi state is for Buhari and that such a protest is not welcomed.
