Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana has criticized the appointments of the service chiefs which according to him is “inchoate”. Falana in a statement he shared, argued that the service chiefs have only been nominated and not appointed because Buhari is yet to forward their names to the national assembly. President Muhammadu Buhari has signed a new law prescribing a six-month jail term for anyone found guilty of flouting any of the COVID19 protocols. The president signed the COVID19 health protection regulations 2021 in Abuja on Wednesday, January 27. 1,861 new cases of COVID19 were recorded in Nigeria on Wednesday, January 27, According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control. Lagos recorded 773 while the FCT recorded 285 and other states with fresh cases include Oyo-138, Rivers-111, Plateau-92, Nasarawa-83, Kaduna-59, Enugu-57, Imo-57, Edo-43, Kano-27, Kwara-20, Ebonyi-19, Abia-17, Ogun-12, Osun-12, Katsina-8, Bayelsa-6, Bauchi-5, Delta-5, Borno-4, Jigawa-4 and Zamfara-1. Nigeria now has 126, 160 confirmed cases of the disease. 100, 365 patients have been successfully treated and discharged. Sadly, 1,544 deaths have been recorded.
